A solar-powered charging station in Cuba brings life to a darkened island
A free, solar-powered charging station, or “solinera” as it’s known, has opened in Cuba’s central region. It has become a lifeline for people on an island with chronic blackouts and a severe gas shortage stemming from a U.S. energy blockade. Some flock from towns miles away for their first chance to bring equipment back to life.
