Bob Lee murder trial set to begin Sept. 16
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A high-profile trial is set to begin this month for the man accused of murdering tech mogul Bob Lee in San Francisco.Jury selection is scheduled to begin in San Francisco County Superior Court on September 16, the district attorney's office said.Nima Momeni, 40, is accused of stabbing Lee to death near the Bay Bridge on April 4, 2023 after both men left Momeni's sister's apartment at Millennium Tower. Lee’s autopsy report revealed that he had multiple "party drugs" in his system when he slain, including cocaine and ketamine.Witnesses told police that Momeni confronted Lee about his relationship with Khazar just hours before the killing. Vásquez)After Lee died, Khazar sent him a text message, court documents state. She wrote, "Just wanted to make sure your doing ok. Cause I know my nima came down wayyyyyyy hard on you. And thank you for being such a classy man handling it with class. Love you Selfish pricks."Bob Lee was not slain in ‘honor killing,’ defense saysPolice found a bloody knife at the crime scene. Bob LeeA preliminary hearing was held in the summer of 2023 when prosecutors outlined their case. At the hearing, Judge Harry Dorfman said, "The evidence, as I see it, is very strong. Mr. Momeni’s DNA is on the handle of the knife. Mr. Lee’s blood is on the blade of the knife."A celebrity defense attorney, Saam Zangeneh, is representing Momeni at trial. He has pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree murder.
